While taking a walk along the shores of Southern Georgian Bay you can't help but be inspired as you discover what has been blown up on the shore lines! What I found gave me the incentive me to try and tell a story that the drifting wood may have seen through its travels. Perhaps it was once part of the massive lumber industry that encompassed our area so many years ago. Life sometimes becomes busy, as mine did. Many years ago (no need to say how many) I put down my paint brush. Not until recently moving here to Midland did I decide to pick it up again. I love the water and it's changing moods and the rustic texture of driftwood. So I was then determined to put all of this together and start creating. The driftwood was cleaned as much as possible and then sun/air dried. They are all hand painted and signed. Unique, no 2 pieces are alike. I've used acrylic paints and sealed the piece for better preservation. It is not possible to view them as they actually are, as the camera has ideas of its own! The colors are a little more brilliant and you can't see the detail of grain in the wood . All of the pictures below are thumbnails so you can click on any to see a larger view. I'd like to thank Brent, Shanon (daughter) and D.J.(grandson) for helping me collect the driftwood pieces. I'd also like to thank Barnacle & Salty (cats) for helping me sort and re-sort them! thanks & ENJOY! (Click here to see my other Paintings/Art which is always a work in progress!)
